In 2015, Mr. Pfeil received a Juris Doctor from Seton Hall University School of Law and a Concentration in Intellectual Property Law, Entertainment Law Track, graduating cum laude and in the top 25% of his class. He received Graduation Award for Humanitarian Achievement.
During law school, Mr. Pfeil interned at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Newark: Immigration Legal Services, the United States Postal Service - Law Department Northeast (New York City, focusing on employment law), BMG Chrysalis (BMG Rights Management (US) LLC) (New York City, focusing on entertainment law), Seton Hall Law Center for Social Justice: Equal Justice Clinic (Newark, NJ focusing on governmental tort claims), and for Shamy, Shipers & Lonski, P.C.
After he graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law, Mr. Pfeil served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Honora O'Brien Kilgallen, J.S.C. While being a judicial clerk has provided Mr. Pfeil with unique insights into the Court and invaluable experiences, one notable achievement was drafting a 70+ page Opinion on a consolidated six Petitions for Post-Conviction Relief that the Appellate Division has affirmed.
Mr. Pfeil has authored the article,
"Let's Play, Let's Infringe? Let's Play Videos Uploaded to YouTube, Copyright Infringement, and the Fair Use Defense," which has been cited internationally and domestically.
Since 2016, Mr. Pfeil has been an attorney at Shamy, Shipers & Lonski, P.C. He is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He has been a municipal prosecutor for several local municipalities and still prosecutes at the municipal level as needed.
As an Entertainment Law Professional, Mr. Pfeil attended ReedPop's New York City Comic Con in October 2017 and 2019. Mr. Pfeil is passionate about the Wills for Heroes pro bono programs, in which wills, living wills, health care powers of attorney and financial powers of attorneys are drafted for first responders, veterans, and their spouses. While Mr. Pfeil got his start with Wills for Heroes in Pennsylvania (and continues actively participating in Pennsylvania events), he was named Co-Chair of Wills for Heroes in New Jersey in 2019. Mr. Pfeil also serves as the Board of Trustees' Chairman for the non-profit Mayor Cohen's Charity Fund.
